How to measure your inseam
One minute and a tape measure. This number matters more than your height.
- Stand straight, barefoot, feet slightly apart.
- Hold the tape at your crotch and run it down the inside of your leg.
- Stop at your ankle bone. That number is your inseam.
- Lay them flat and smooth out the legs.
- Measure from the crotch seam down the inside leg.
- Stop at the hem.

Which inseam should I choose for my height?
The Short 29" typically fits 5'4" and under, the Regular 32" typically fits 5'5" to 5'8", and the Long 35" typically fits 5'9" and up. Your own inseam matters most, so measure from your crotch to your ankle bone. Laura, our founder, is 5'2" with a 27.5" inseam and wears the Short 29".
Are the Esme jeans true to size?
Yes. They are true to size with medium stretch, so most women wear their usual department store size. If you wear a 26 in Levi's, choose a 26 in the Esme. If you wear a 5 in Judy Blue, choose a 7 in the Esme.
What if I'm between sizes?
Most women, especially sizes 0 to 15, should size down for a more fitted but still comfortable look. Curvy sizes 14W to 24W can size down too. They will be a bit more fitted.
Will I need to hem the Esme?
Everyone is built a little differently, so measure first. Your inseam runs from your crotch to your ankle bone. Laura measures 27.5" and wears the Short 29". Many women like a length a little longer than their measurement, especially with shoes.

I am absolutely obsessed with these jeans! At 5'9 fit can be hard, not only do i need some length in the legs, but the rise as well, these fit great all around, i would have to agree with another reviewer that states "favorite fit for a Jean ". I love my new jeans! I’m 6’1” and ordered the long (35” inseam). The length is all the way to the floor and look great with flats. These are exactly as described. I am 5'10 and typically get a 34" inseam for flats and a 36" for heels. The 36" was very long and I had to wear my wedge heels to not have them drag the ground. They are buttery soft and very stretchy. I typically order a size 6 in jeans, so I got the 5 and they fit perfectly. I went back and ordered several other styles after seeing how great the quality was on this pair.

Better price for judy blue quality jeans. Fit perfect. The 29 inseam was a perfect length, I’m 5’4. Probably my favorite cut for a Jean. Kind of over skinny jeans and wide leg. Can be a little bit much when you’re this short. But these were perfectly in between.
